MOVEMENT THERAPY COMBINATIONS

SO VERY MANY DIFFERENT TECHNICS, A SUMMARY OF EACH TYPE OF MOVEMENT THERAPY I USE AND EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR CLIENTS

Somatic Gymnastics:

Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body for holistic healing. somatic therapy practitioners use mind-body exercises and other physical techniques to help release the pent-up tension that is negatively affecting your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Mentastics:

Mentastics® are a series of gentle, playful exercises which are a crucial part of the Trager Approach ® to body therapy, a type of physical bodywork which has been practiced since the 1920s. The Trager Approach® aims to release deep-seated patterns in the client, with practitioners showing their clients how to move freely in comfortable ways which release tension and stress. Mentastics® supplements this by empowering clients to work on their own. The movements involved in Mentastics® are simple, gentle, and very natural. They mimic the stretches and poses used during the bodywork session, increasing flexibility and freeing the client’s body and mind. Clients can learn Mentastics® in private sessions with a practitioner, or they can work with a larger group. Mentastics® are designed to be performed every day at home, and they are gentle enough to be performed by people of all ages and at different levels of ability.

Posturology:

We are all asymmetrical, owing to our physical composition, habits and lifestyle. Some of us compensate for this condition and are free of disorders. The same does not apply for some others.  In truth, some circumstances such as work conditions (prolonged, repetitive poor posture) or trauma can decompensate the postural system. Posturology is a multidisciplinary health discipline that examines the major plumb lines in the human body. Postural pathology is an imbalance of these plumb lines, producing excess stress that causes musculoarticular difficulties and negative changes in the motor pattern.

Prescribed Stretching

Stretching is a common activity used by athletes, older adults, rehabilitation patients, and anyone participating in a fitness program. While the benefits of stretching are known, controversy remains about the best type of stretching for a particular goal or outcome. Human movement is dependent on the amount of range of motion (ROM) available in synovial joints. In general, ROM may be limited by 2 anatomical entities: joints and muscles. . Muscle provides both passive and active tension: passive muscle tension is dependent on structural properties of the muscle and surrounding fascia, while dynamic muscle contraction provides active tension. Having a specialist do a full evaluation allows for the creation and education of an individualized program.

Pilates

Pilates is a mind-body intervention that focuses on strength, core stability, flexibility, muscle control, posture and breathing. Many people participate in a pilates program for the following reasons: Increased flexibility. Increased confidence with movement and aggravating activities.

Ergolates

This is my baby,  Ergolates is an exercise and health methodology based on a combination of Joseph Pilates principles,  Ergonomics, Naturopathy and Trager Movement therapy principles. In essence it is the result of taking the best of each of the above areas, to create a repertoire of exercises that adapts therapeutic and esthetic principles into a workout and lifestyle method, (which includes a holistic “way of thinking” )

Bio-mechanic Activation

My Techniques, are a specific and unique process for evaluating an individual’s ability to produce efficient muscle contraction. Loss of muscle contraction results in a decreased range of motion, and therefore decreased physical performance. I test range of motion to discover which muscles have decreased contractibility, and I evaluate the precise forces need to be applied to restore that muscle’s efficiency. This technic falls within my Manual Therapy (Massage) specialities often combined with Thai-Massage principles.
