Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body for holistic healing. somatic therapy practitioners use mind-body exercises and other physical techniques to help release the pent-up tension that is negatively affecting your physical and emotional wellbeing.
Mentastics® are a series of gentle, playful exercises which are a crucial part of the Trager Approach ® to body therapy, a type of physical bodywork which has been practiced since the 1920s. The Trager Approach® aims to release deep-seated patterns in the client, with practitioners showing their clients how to move freely in comfortable ways which release tension and stress. Mentastics® supplements this by empowering clients to work on their movements involved in Mentastics® are simple, gentle, and very natural. They mimic the stretches and poses used during the bodywork session, increasing flexibility and freeing the client’s body and mind. Clients can learn Mentastics® in private sessions with a practitioner, or they can work with a larger group. Mentastics® are designed to be performed every day at home, and they are gentle enough to be performed by people of all ages and at different levels of ability.
We are all asymmetrical, owing to our physical composition, habits and lifestyle. Some of us compensate for this condition and are free of disorders. The same does not apply for some others. In truth, some circumstances such as work conditions (prolonged, repetitive poor posture) or trauma can decompensate the postural system. Posturology is a multidisciplinary health discipline that examines the major plumb lines in the human body. Postural pathology is an imbalance of these plumb lines, producing excess stress that causes musculoarticular difficulties and negative changes in the motor pattern.
